Transactional Analysis:
Great teachers focus not on compliance but on connections and relationships.
The relationship a student has with a teacher plays a significant part in the child’s success. Teachers need to be conscious and possess the required knowledge to assess their interactions with the students. This understanding will enable them to develop stronger and long-lasting relationships.
With this belief, a session on Transaction Analysis was conducted on Saturday 31st July 2021. The session included the following details:
1. Introduction to the psychologist Eric Berne and his theory of Transaction Analysis.
2. Discussion on the importance of positive interactions between the teacher and the student.
3. Comprehending the details of the theory of Transaction Analysis with respect to ‘Hungers’ and ‘Strokes’.
4. Activities based on listing teaching strategies to satisfy the psychological needs of the student and classifying a group of strokes into categories.
5. Discussion on ways to create a favourable environment in the classroom involving innovative strategies in the teaching processes.
The teachers actively participated and contributed to the discussions held during the session. Opportunities were provided to share experiences and simultaneously learn from each other leading to personal and institutional advancement.
